A James Huggins, born ca 1685, and wife Ann, died Jan. 14, 1746 in Onslow Co., North Carolina. In his will he gave land in Maryland to sons Charles Huggins and Benjamine Huggins. Also mentioned in the will is Ann Hurley. His wife, Ann Huggins, made a similar will to that of her husband. Daughter Ann was apparently the mother of a Jacob Hurley. In a Jones Co. North Carolina deed book (1719 - 1774) it lists "Jacob Huggins, alias Husley."
