Birckhead... land was divided and part to be sold to Capt. Wm. Birckhead but he died, so it was sold to his heirs. Pollard sold to Hugh Birckhead (in 1826), then Hugh sold the land to Capt. Wm. Birckhead (in 1826).

South Carolina attempted to nullify federal tariff laws. Andrew Jackson sent Federal troops to South Carolina on December 10.

 

 

 

Between July and August over 3,000 people die in New York City from an epidemic of cholera. An outbreak in October in New Orleans kills over 4,000.

Bill of sale, 23rd October 1833, I Argalus Higgins of QA Co. state of Maryland, for and in consideration of a debt due from me to Eliphalet Reed now in New Castle County, Delaware, formerly of Queen Ann's County, Maryland on (a) note to the amount of one hundred and fifty dollars bearing interest at 4% from 1st Jan 1833 and also a note given by me to William Reed to the amt. of seventy dollars bearing legal interest from the 1st Oct 1833, which note is assigned by said Wm. Reed to the afsd. Eliphalet Reed - have sold into the said Eliphalet Reed one grey mare, one black horse, one yoke of oxen, six cows, three calves, sixteen sheep, two sows and 8 pigs, one ox cart, plows, three beds & steads & furniture thereto belonging, six chairs, one bureau, one table, sixty barrels of corn, and seventy bushels of wheat seeding on the farm whereon I now reside, all which property is now in my possession. 4th October 1833 Argalus Higgins Wit: Maria E.
